Tuesday Night Sewing Class

Our guild had a sewing class last Tuesday night.  We really have some good teachers.  Volunteers
from our guild.  We really have some talented ladies in our guild.  I love learning something new.
I love to get together with all my friends and sew and laugh and have fun.
This class was a little thing called a Twister Thread Catcher.
Starts out looking like above.  I guess that is the twisty part. Then it looks like this.
Cute I think.  Everyone was coming up with ideas to put sewing items in it as a gift.
Cute huh?  Well Lola agrees.
Hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend.  I did cause it means cooler weather.
Looking forward to going to the East Cobb Quilt Show Friday.  I hope to pick up some goodies while I am there.  It will be a good time with my Bee.

Early Quilter gets the Go!!!!!!!!!

I really do have something to blog about today.  I have a little tin box in my sewing room.
When I have spare change or dollars it goes in the tin box.  Will I have been saving for a Go cutter.
I really didn't think as popular as they were they would ever go on sale.  But I was going through my
Joann's sales paper and was thinking they will never ever put the Go on sale then I turned to the last
page and there it was. It was on sale.  $149.00 off.....WOW.  So I was at the front door when they
opened this morning.  I  picked up the box and shook it, nothing in it.  My heart dropped.  But the lady told me that they had to put them in the back, people were stealing them.  I couldn't believe it.  I sure hope this isn't Quilters that are walking off with these things.  Really makes my heart sad that people
take things like that.

I could have charged it sure, but I had rather save for it and not be in debt.  So I had a day of mixed
emotions.  For me this is an important machine to cut fabric.   My hands are so bad with Arthritis it is really hard to get an accurate cut.  Yesterday I took off a little bit of the tip of my thumb.  Thank goodness for thumb nails.  It saved my finger from being much worse.
So if any of you quilters out there have any hand or wrist problems I give this a 5 star review.

So now I am saving up for some more dies.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

New Civil War Fabric aka Fabric therapy

Well today I just had to go to Sweet Home Quilt Company ( one of my favorite quilting stores) to
pick up my BOM Comfort and Joy.  I just can not  leave that store without checking out the Civil War
Fabric.  They have the best selection.  The last Civil War block that Carol  with Chickadee Chatter posted the most beautiful block done in purples. Uh oh my bird dog got off of the trail. That's Southern for I'm rambling.  Anyway I had to have some purples for my CW stash. Aren't these wonderful?  And got a few more to boot.

I also picked up something for my Christmas fabric swap buddy ...Jenny from Alaska. No pictures of that but take my word for it she will like it.

We had out 1st Guild meeting last Tuesday night.  We really had a good group and a lot of  exciting
events planned.  Our Charity Quilt we will do differently this year usually we have one person that does that but this year we are asking each member to make a 12 1/2 inch block in black and white.
I think very good idea. I made 2.  Sort of  like potato chips cant do just one.

And last but not least my BOW Civil War block. This one was really a challenge but I like how it turned out.

I hope to have some time in the sewing room this weekend. And I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Got my sewing MOJO back

Finding your sewing MOJO is a spiritual thing. I have had my passion back for sewing and quilting again.  I have felt so good.  Wish I felt this way everyday but I will enjoy it while it is here.

We have had our First Board meeting for planning our Guild year. Something about that meeting
gets you all excited about Charity and getting back together with quilting friends.  I think we have planned a wonderful Guild year.

I belong to the Cotton Boll Quilt Guild that includes a lot of counties in Georgia.
If you are in our area ( Covington, Conyers Georgia ) you have an open invitation.
First meeting August 23, 20011 at 7:00pm.  If you need on information on the place please
just ask me.

We do a lot for charity and have a lot of fun. We have a lot of talented people.  Guild is planning to have a Bazaar.  Haven't got a date yet. Would love to see ya there.

I have gotten up early and doing everything done around the house and head to the sewing room.
I have done some projects for Christmas and getting some things caught up.  Now I have a lot of
wonderful hand work to do while watching t.v. at night.

The wall handing of the Cardinal is so easy. I got the idea of putting buttons on the yo yo's from another wonderful blogger, thanks.

I joined a Christmas Fabric swap. Cant wait to get started.
I am looking for Jen Benda from the great state of Alaska.
I have left a comment on your blog. Tried to email you but it
was sent back. I love your blog.

We will get it done stitch bt stitch..........

A Cardinal and Civil War Blocks

This all pinned and ready to quilt. This was a nice little wall hanging to put together. It

will go to our guilds Bazaar this fall. I will add a black button for an eye and small yo yo's for berries.

Posting Civil War Blocks for a sew along with Carol Steffensen at Chickadee
Chatter. I am loving these blocks. Something about the Civil War fabrics that speak to me. It might be the muted colors.[ that calms my soul.

My fennell is full of catapillars, oops until the Red Birds and Wrens found them. They had a nice meal. Well that is nature.

I am doing a sew along with Chickadee Chatter , Carol Steffensen. This is block # 4 and #5. Yippee I am caught up until next block is posted.
I did have trouble with block # 3. Carol you said that you had trouble with that one also. I saw someone post that block. Please if you had trouble tell me what you did.
The plus for me is really having a purpose for shopping for Civil War Fabric. Love it.
A big thanks to Carol for posting these blocks. I really enjoy the challenge.
A very good last 3 days in my sewing room. Also cutting out a Christmas wall hanging today. Hope to put that together tomorrow.
