No quilting today.............

With my bad knees and back you always pay for your good times.  I am paying BUT it is well worth it.
My Bee went on a trip yesterday.  We went to Ikea in Atlanta and then to Atlantic Station.  I think we all had a good time.  Had a nice lunch and I had a glass of wine.  So good.
I have so much waiting for me in the sewing room.  But I have to pay my dues for my good times.
I had to prove to myself that I could keep up and fit in again after a 2 years absence.
Not a quilt shop visit, I was surprised.  My hunt for Elvis fabric continues.  For a challenge quilt for the guild this year is to make a Elvis quilt.  He never was a favorite of mine. I guess I will have to try and channel him while I am making this quilt.  Ya Think????
No more thoughts , my body and mind are so tired.
But maybe I can sew tomorrow.

Finally got back into the sewing room.  Some how I just cant call that place my studio.  Pinned a baby quilt I made from some scraps donated to our guild for the Journey of Hope.  Quilts for children with cancer.  I am told they really love the quilts and take them everywhere.  Well I always manage to stick myself with a pin and bleed and yes you guessed it I always get my DNA on every quilt that I make and hope I can get it out.
I always think that makes me part of that quilt.  My Bee is going on a trip Thursday to IKEA.  I'm so excited but a bit worried also.  You see I'm getting over a 2 year illness of a knee replacement and an infection in both knees and my spine.  By the grace of GOD I am able to walk.  I had to learn all over again.  OK my bird dog got off the trail.  Anyway I hope the others will not mind me being slow and think they have to worry about me.  I just don't want to be a burden. I am trying so hard to fit in again.  This has really changed my life.
Come to think of it this blog is a way for me to get things straight in my mind quilting/ journal.  Quilting has become a way to express myself and fellowship with women that loves the same things I do.
I learn something new everyday in quilting.  The ladies in my Bee always love to share what they know and for that I'm grateful.
I'm trying so hard to get ready for Christmas before I got sick I would do all of my Christmas sewing in the summer.  I have been searching the web for Christmas patterns.
Maybe I will get caught up this winter.

A day of emotions

How can I post of quilting today?  I know everyone knows where they were on this date so many years ago.
I was home, still in bed suffering from an awful flare of pain and stiffness.   My sister called me,  I didn't get up and answer the phone, she left a megs. knowing why I hadn't answered the phone.  I couldn't believe what I heard on the megs..  I turned on the t.v. and stayed glued there all day in fact like everyone else for 2 weeks watching every minute of the worst sadness I had ever seen.  I weep for all that were lost and there families.
I struggle with not wanting to hate that group of people that planned and carried this out on our country.  World Trade center was when it was the first time such hate hit us on our shores.  We must never forget ans always remember those who were there.

Thank Goodness for Friday, what is on my heart today.

I have so much cleaning to do and cook supper later.  I will try to get in the sewing room.   I did do the block of the month last night.  I did a 14 inch Granny's Garden.  When I learn how to upload pictures to this blog Ill do so.  At 14 in. finish it is a good block if you need a quick quilt for a baby quilt or gift.  It is so easy to do.  I had never made one before.  One more block under my belt.  In our Bee we are asking for everyone to make us 2 blocks for our Birthday.  I want 2 house blocks in the makers favorite fabric.  That way I can just look at the block and know who it is from.  I know every ones favorite color and fabric.
I am waiting for cooler weather, that is my favorite time in the sewing g room.  My sewing room is a closed in back porch.  So I have a lot of windows and natural light and I can see all of my bird feeders.  I really miss my best buddy Cotton.  He was my Pomeranian, white so sweet and small.  He had a special place to lay up
on a table by my sewing machine.  It will be a year the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  I miss his company so bad.  I want another dog so bad. Maybe a Teacup Chihuahua.
I plan to maybe do some quilting today. I have a table topper and a baby quilt to quilt.  And yes more blocks to make.        Stitch by Stitch

I have some decsions to make today.  I do the block of the month for my guild so I have to decide what
block to do and the color way.  I printed some really good ideas from the web.  On facebook yesterday Pat Sloan ask what was on our sewing table?  Boy did I have a list, I have a lot of UFOs.   But I am trying to get some of them done.  If I were to really think about what I have to do to catch up I would really panic.  Sometimes it is really hard to find inspiration.

I am looking for a good pattern to use my batiks.  I am working on my collection of batiks.
I will probably add to my blog after spending some time in my sewing room today.  Hoping to find some happiness there today.  Stitch by stitch.......................

Sew Bee It

Well here I am on a blog. You have to be smarter than a fifth grader to set this thing up.  I wanted to blog about my love for quilting and the people that quilt.  I have a daily struggle with quilting.  I have a physical thing that holds me back called Rheumatoid Arthritis.  So I struggle each and everyday to be able to go to the sewing room and sew.  But enough with that.  The main thing is I love to quilt.  I belong to a wonderful Bee.  The Sew Bee Its.  I love all of them and we are great support for each other.  My quilt guild is The Cotton Boll Quilt Guild in Georgia.  We have members from several surrounding counties.  I am working on so many things right now.  But I hope to have something interesting to say and hope some will read my blog and comment.
